BBC “Happening Here” boudoir shoot

April 20th, 2010 § 4

I had the privilege of being asked to be part of the pilot episode of a new TV show for BBC Northern Ireland called “Happening Here.”  It’s a sort of modern arts show, with 3 great presenters going around Northern Ireland checking out what different things there is to do and what opportunities are out there if you just look.  I think it’s a super concept and fingers crossed the first show will be well received and that many more will follow.

My part in the show was to do a boudoir photo-shoot with the lovely presenter Jessica.  We planned the shoot to be vintage inspired and to really elude the subtle sensuality of that era.

I was so lucky to get the chance to work with the lovely Clare Afshar who owns “Vintage Rocks Hair Parlour”  www.vintagerockshairparlour.com.  Clare did some amazing victory rolls and hot roller curls in Jessica’s hair, it was stunning.  We then painted Jessica’s face with rouge, red lips and smoky flicked eyeliner, she looked like a doll!  Then it was off to “The Merchant” to get her all dressed up in a beautiful corset kindly borrowed from “Roxbury and McQueen” (www.roxburyandmcqueen.com) and stockings and suspenders. She looked beyond amazing and was a delight to photograph, a true professional.

After a hard but very enjoyable days filming, make up, hair and photography the result of everyones hard was can be seen below.

Big thanks to everyone who made it possible!!!  I’ll update you when the show’s going to air!!

p.s i also got a lovely 1940′s dress to wear for the show from Atelier in Queens Arcade Belfast (www.atelierbelfast.com), the assistant was so helpful and I felt amazing in it! so thanks to them for making me feel special (will post  a pic up of it asap!!)

Hair and Make-up!

April 1st, 2010 § 0

We were privileged to photograph the wedding of a lovely couple from Banbridge in February and during this wedding had the pleasure of witnessing some great hair and make-up in action.  I always love being in the house to photograph the bride as she gets ready, there is such a pleasant atmosphere, all excitement and nerves with a little hint of tension! Being a total girls’ girl I am always fascinated to see the transformation from girl to bride, definitely one of my favorite parts of the day to photograph!

For this wedding the bride wanted to wear her hair up but in a way that was soft and elegant, I LOVED the style and the hairdresser made it look effortless.  For the make-up it was required for it to be long lasting, subtle but with just enough drama to emphasize her face and stand out in the photo’s.  The result was a stunning bride oozing elegance and beauty.

I wanted to write a quick review on the hair and make-up team as they did such a great job.  They often work together and are based in the heart of the Lisburn Road in Belfast.  Make-up was provided by Julie Davidson www.juliedavidsonmakeup.co.uk and hair was done by Olivia Muldoon www.oliviashairdesign.com .

The photo’s below are some of our favorites from that wedding showcasing the hair and make up by Olivia and Julie!
